In 1958 the late David Hepworth began competing in a Morris 1000 Traveller begining an association with Motorsport and classic cars that the family continues to maintain. The early years were mainly around rallying and hill climbing after many years competing with Morgan,Austin Healey,Cooper,Brabham and David reached his pinnacle winning the British Hillclimb championship in 1969 and 1971 with a self built four wheel drive car the Hepworth Ferguson 4wd (Sandblaster Special) which is still owned by the family (see restoration projects). The early 70's saw the purchase of the entire BRM P154 and 167 Can-am sports car team this saw him competing on the continent in the Interserie series all but one of the P154's and P167'sare also still in the Hepworth family collection. The early 80's saw the building of the Hepworth GB1 Can-am car which was built up around the last ever BRM formula 1 car the P230 unfortunatly the car was substantialy damaged in a testing accident before it got the chance to race, restoration of this car will begin this year after which it will hopefully start its first ever event.
